The Implementation Committee is seeking a 7th Additional Community Member to sit on the Implementation Committee and participate in activities related to the development taking place on the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. An overview of the responsibilities and roles of the Additional Community Member can be found here.
Dear Community Steward:
This letter is an invitation to apply for participation in the District 10 (D10) Implementation Committee. The Implementation Committee (IC) was established by the Core Community Benefits Agreement (CCBA) negotiated by San Francisco community groups and Lennar Urban, the master developer of the Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point. The CCBA is a legal document which secured a landmark package of benefits which includes improving the housing and employment outcomes of San Francisco’s District 10 residents and community.
The IC is an organization made up of representatives from The San Francisco Organizing Project, the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, the San Francisco Labor Council, Bayview Hunters Point Project Area Committee, Hunters Point Shipyard Citizens Advisory Committee, Lennar Urban, and a community seat.
The primary purpose of the IC is to provide oversight of community benefit programs being implemented using funds provided by Lennar Urban to ensure that the revitalization of the Project Site is in the best interest of District 10 residents, businesses and community organizations.
As a member of the IC, you would be playing an important role in the decision making of the body with respect to those funds. It is a very important volunteer opportunity.
Meetings are monthly and include full committee meetings – the 3rd Tuesday of the month, as well as subcommittee meetings for Workforce and Housing (one meeting per group, either in person or over the phone).
All applicants for the Additional Community member will submit a Resume and/or Curriculum Vitae and cover letters expressing his/her interest in the Implementation Committee. The top candidates are selected in a three step process: all will be presented to the full Implementation Committee for review and approval, forwarded to the District 10 Supervisor for further review and suggestions, and thereafter submitted to the full Implementation Committee for selection.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Nominations Committee. Our contact information is below. You can also find additional information at: www.d10benefits.org.
