Summer Interns Build Careers and Rap About the Sewer
District 10 residents and SFPUC summer interns Kalle Burton and Desmond Hatter co-wrote and starred in a new wastewater rap video that’s gaining attention industry-wide and beyond. SFPUC youth interns and staff created the video to raise awareness among youth about our sewer system and the urgent need for upgrades. “Our goal is to work with young people to build the next generation of environmental stewards,” said SFPUC General Manager Harlan L. Kelly, Jr.
The video was edited by youth at BAYCAT, a local non-profit that empowers the City’s underserved youth through digital media training.
The SFPUC Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) wastewater subcommittee and the Southeast Community Facility Commission are joining forces next Wednesday, April 8 to learn about a key part of the SFPUC’s work in the City–the Community Benefits program. SFPUC General Manager Harlan L. Kelly, Jr. will give an overview, and Community Benefits Director Kay Fernandez will detail the department’s partnerships and programs.
Would you like to learn more? Join the CAC and the Commission at the Southeast Community Facility in the Alex Pitcher room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
