In early December, 50 Fund—the philanthropic arm of the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee—announced its Game Changers grant program which will make $500k general operating grants to Bay Area nonprofit organizations with evidence of impact and the potential for scale. Additional grant programs will be announced in 2015. For more on 50 Fund, watch this vision video.
The first Game Changers grant application period is open until January 31st and centers on 50 Fund’s Youth Development focus area. Five grantees will be announced by mid-February. Full details, including eligibility criteria, official rules, and a link to the grant application can be found at www.50fund.org under “How to Apply”. Future Game Changer grants will be open to the other two 50 Fund focus areas: Community Investment and Sustainable Environments.
Please note that we will not be available to discuss the program directly with prospective applicants while the application period is open. We have intentionally left the scope broad to invite organizations to share what they’re doing, how and why its working, and what additional impact would be created through a Game Changer grant. We’ve made the eligibility criteria clear and the application process simple so that organizations can quickly assess whether or not they qualify and don’t spend too much time applying.
I hope that you’ll share this unique opportunity with your grantees/network. Please also encourage them to stay informed of future opportunities by signing up on our website and following us on social media:
